To the sound of one lonely creaking chain I have started my own personal Tour de France! Riding the first stage (Brest to Plumelec) which is 196 kms. I started with 35 kms on Sunday 2 January 2011 and it was fantastic. Took me an hour and a half (I used to do 35 kms in an hour!), but speed is not the issue here. I need to cover the distance.
The morning of 3 January I rode the next 35 kilometers, and that was a different story altogether! At least half that distance was climbing a steep hill. My legs were tired, and boy did my bum hurt!
Anyway it is good that I have started. I'm delighted that so many others have joined me on this challenge (see the Daily Mile link in the earlier post).
2% of the distance covered. It feels good to have started. Now I just need to keep it up ...
